National Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) Support Officer Location: Nationwide : Anywhere within the UK with travel to Police Forces, mainly in England. Salary: Grade 8 : Starts at A GBP 40,950 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of A GBP 45,546 per annum Job Type: Hybrid, Fixed Term Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employers workspace. If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered A Fixed Term contract. The Role The National Volunteer Police Cadets is the UKs fastest growing uniformed youth group with over 10,000 cadets across more than 450 cadet units within all 44 police forces in England and Wales. The National Volunteer Police Cadets has a vision to be a world: class, socially inclusive uniformed youth group based on the values of British policing, demonstrating every day positive impact in their local communities. Through weekly sessions and social action initiatives, cadets and their leaders voluntarily contribute tens of thousands of hours annually, playing a vital role within community and early intervention policing across all areas of the UK. Building on this success over the last decade, the National Volunteer Police Cadets Safeguarding and Standards Hub (which centrally oversees and supports VPC activities), now led by Deputy Chief Constable Rob Jones of Suffolk Police, has been successful in securing funding from the Department of Culture, Media, and Sport. This funding aims to facilitate significant growth and development within the Volunteer Police Cadet Scheme between now and March 2025. As part of this funding the role of National VPC Support Officer has been created to support the delivery of key performance indicators under the funding, including the growth and development of cadet and leader numbers across police forces across England and Wales.
